I make a lot of money with clickbank, and I am happy with that. So I just decided to add a clickbank category to my affiliate marketing blog, however…

Yesterday I’ve spend all the night trying to edit my archive and about links, but without success. I did it on another of my blogs though…

I am using a frame redirect code to hide my affiliate links, but while browsing on various forums, I found that I could be losing many commissions with people who downloaded the latest IE7 since they block affiliate 3rd party cookies.

My affiliate links (framed redirect) where in this form:

http://www.Mysite.com/recommends/myaffiliateprogram.html.

Last week, I’ve found an excellent PHP video tutorial on Jeremy Palmer’s Blog.

I will add a page dedicated to Jeremy in my affiliate marketing site next week.

So if I had a site called bestaffiliateproducts.com and the product I promote was called: moneyatwill for example, I would set up a framed redirect link in this format:

http://www.bestaffiliateproducts.com/recommends/moneyatwill.html.

So if someone buy through my affiliate link, IE7 can block my cookies and I will not be credited for the sale.

I’ve tested in my own IE7, and my affiliate ID was showing. Since I dowloaded IE7, I am not using it, because I am a firefox user. However, I will change from now to PHP. I feel that it is safer.

14. What about people whose browsers are set to reject “3rd party” cookies?

Our hoplinks always open at the top level of the current browser window, and we issue all cookies during that redirect. These are called “1st party” cookies because the cookie is coming from the same domain name as the page itself.

In contrast, most affiliate systems set cookies by having users embed a reference to an outside image, script, or frame on their web page. These are called “3rd party” cookies because the domain names don’t match. Such cookies are frequently blocked by privacy software.

But that’s not all, they are also on frames…

10. Will I get referral credit if I hide hoplinks by making them open into a frame, iframe, layer, applet, image, or other sub-window object?

No. These are illegal hoplinks. For security reasons, and to ensure proper tracking of your referrals, all hoplinks must be targeted to the top level of a new or existing window.

I will shift all my redirect links to PHP. I think it is safer for my cookies tracking. Why I want to change all my framed redirect clickbank affiliate links?

I’ve just noticed someting: While my affiliate income is getting higher and higher for many affiliate programs, clickbank is almost the same!

So I will test and see if my clickbank income is better after one or two month. I think it will be better, because since I have more than 6000 visitors to my sites, I make the same number of sales I was making some months ago with only 2000 visitors.

The PHP redirect is not a cloaked link or loaded in a frame, it’s just a simple header redirect; the end user will end up at the affiliate site and the cookie will not be dropped until he’s there.

So, be careful if you are using framed redirect because you could be losing many clikbank commissions, and if you don’t track, you will never know. It’s safer and better to use PHP redirect instead. Jeremy Palmer has an excellent PHP link cloaking tutorial on his blog.

Tip: If you are currently running a website, don’t forget to add one page every week to your site, and add it to your site map as well. Google prefer living websites than dead ones.

I was curious to see what was different than other top affiliate marketers, and I found that that his techniques are similar to what others are doing but he has his own twist.

The book is really easy to read and for someone who is new to affiliate programs in general, it is excellent. The section 6 can be a little bit difficult for a beginner, but you can solve that by asking directly to Jeremy via his forum. He is there everyday.

Although I’ve read almost every super affiliate marketers courses, I am not playing the PPC game at a high level yet… I see myself as a beginner in this field.

I will profit from Jeremy’s insight on Google Adwords, Yahoo (they are just changing the way their PPC platform is working; they are becoming similar to Google) and MSN.

Jeremy stated that although he got more traffic to his affiliate websites, his affiliate revenue in 2006 was…

1) MSN Ad center
2) Yahoo

Mr X is the man behind the Adwords Blackbook. I couldn’t buy his ebook at that time, and it sold out very fast.

I totally agree with what he says in The Great Affiliate Marketing Sham . I am in the affiliate marketing game for one year now, and I’ve been ripped of many time from merchants…

Fact: my first affiliate commission ever: $250 was never paid to me! Worst: When I made $400 and more after only 3 months online, that merchant (I stay polite), and I know that I made more than these $400 since I was promoting all day long like a mad.

When we told him (me and other affiliates) where our commissions ended up, do you know his answer? read this:

I am sorry, but my ad tracking system had a serious bug, and it is actually impssible to know how much commissions have been lost!

And guess what? This is not the worst… Actually, we affiliate marketers are loosing thousands of dollars every year… because of bad tracking. I am happy because my paypal account is restored now, and I can receive my affiliate commissions.

Many affiliate programs pay via paypal now, and it was a pain in the neck for me to be without paypal, but hopefully, there is no problem now.

More and more affiliate programs are managed with the Idev affiliate tracking software.

Beside normal affiliate networks, it is my preferred affiliate program tracking software, since it has many features like the incoming log (see from where the clicks came), easy to create custom links, text and banners ads tracking… And my preferred: an excellent and easy 2-tier affiliate program management.

I really like to get commissions from my sub-affiliates. You are like the merchant!

I didn’t see a best affiliate management solution than idevaffiliate.

So I am happy to be able to work with all my “paypal affiliate programs”, BUT there is a problem though.

Immediately after I received the email from paypal, I contacted all the affiliate programs that was paying me with paypal to tell them that now they can send the paiement.

All of them were very helpful, and accepted to resend the paiement, and others even told me that they would send a cheque just for me! It’s a pleasure to work with honest people.

So where is the problem? The problem was with on affiliate program’s customer service. Do you know what they told me?

Just read that:

We send payment to accounts on file. Since we are unable to track if
payment was made to valid paypal account this means that you are
responsible to keep correct paypal account on file. You record shows that all due commission were already paid.

In other words, they don’t want to pay my commissions… It’s a membership site, so I will see next month what they are doing, but in the mean time, I’ll be sure to get my commissions for this month.

Amazing: commissions were paid, yes but not for me! My paypal account wasn’t able to receive any money during that period.
